North Review: Nebraska
Huskers Still Have Issues on Offense
Nebraska (2-2, 5-3)
Last: Won 20-10 at Baylor
The Cornhuskers used a blocked punt to get by Baylor 20-10 in Waco. Although the game was never in doubt, it’s safe to say that Nebraska has still not solved their offensive issues. Cody Green replaced Zac Lee but only threw for 128 yards as the offense accounted for less than 300 yards and only one touchdown. The defense remained on point, however, dominating Baylor’s offense.
Next: Oklahoma
Even a Sam Bradford-less OU team is more than capable of putting up big offensive numbers. It will be interesting to see just how good the Nebraska defense can be. It may not matter, though. It’s very possible that the Husker’s offense will not score on one of the best defenses in the country. NU’s defense may need to pitch the shutout, and score at least once to have a shot.
North Outlook:
If you go ahead and give Oklahoma the victory this week, Nebraska will sit at 2-3 in the conference. Wins over KU, K-State, and Colorado should give the Huskers the title outright...or at the very least, in a tiebreaker with K-State. One stumble, and they might be thrown into a giant cluster of 4-4 teams. Unfortunately, it would also mean a 3-2 north record, meaning KU, K-State, or MU have the possibility of getting in over Nebraska with a 4-1 division record. The point here is that the Iowa State has the potential to hurt the Huskers even more than it does right now.
