We’ll update injuries from the weekend’s action as necessary throughout Monday
Carolina Panthers QB
Jake Delhomme sustained a chest injury and left Sunday’s contest against the Arizona Cardinals in the fourth quarter.
Matt Moore finished the game.
Green Bay Packers QB
Aaron Rodgers was reportedly limping after Sunday's loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Note Rodgers has appeared on the injury report in recent weeks with a foot injury. Track his status closely this week.
Detroit Lions RB
Kevin Smith was in and out of Sunday’s game against the St. Louis Rams with an ankle issue. However, this shouldn’t keep Smith out of Week 9’s contest against the Seattle Seahawks.
Arizona Cardinals WR
Anquan Boldin aggravated his ankle injury against the Carolina Panthers.
Steve Breaston would start in Week 9 if Boldin can’t go.
New York Giants WR
Domenik Hixon suffered a hip injury against the Philadelphia Eagles. Hixon drew the start for
Mario Manningham, who was inactive with a shoulder injury. If both can’t go in Week 9, rookie
Hakeem Nicks would likely start alongside
Steve Smith.
Houston Texans TE
Owen Daniels suffered a knee injury against the Buffalo Bills and could be done for the season. With TEs
Joel Dressen and
James Casey on the depth chart after Daniels, the position takes a major hit. However, Daniels’ injury could open the door for WR
Kevin Walter to re-emerge in the offense and WR
Jacoby Jones could also see more snaps.
[Update: Owens is out for the year with a torn ACL.]
Situations to track this week
Houston Texans RB
Steve Slaton was benched against the Buffalo Bills after losing yet another fumble, his fifth of the year, in first quarter action. The team turned to
Ryan Moats, who rushed 23 times for 126 yards and three scores, over
Chris Brown. It’s clear coach
Gary Kubiak had enough of Slaton’s inability to secure the ball, but whether Slaton loses his staring job for Week 9 remains to be seen. Obviously, put Moats on your radar as a free agent acquisition.
San Diego Chargers WR
Malcom Floyd started Sunday’s game against the Oakland Raiders over veteran
Chris Chambers. Given Chambers’ disappearing act this season, this move is likely permanent.
