Online Resources for Home School Parents and Students

FREE, from Cable in the Classroom

Access an amazing array of free resources from Cable in the Classroom, the same ones used by classroom teachers all across the country. Just visit www.ciconline.org to get started.

The “Teachers” and “Parents” menus provide podcasts, sample videos, and “Media Smart” resources. If you have broadband service, your children can also play educational, fun games on line: Shakespeare, eLECTIONS, and Windward.

The web site also provides a monthly calendar of cable programming, organized by subject. Over 40 cable networks contribute to CIC programming, programs which you can record and use for educational purposes, copyright free for 1-3 years, depending on the network. These networks also provide additional resources, some with lesson plans and study guides, also free of charge. Just visit the individual network web sites for these additional materials.

No membership fee is required to use the Cable in the Classroom website, not even a login. If you have questions, please call our Public Affairs office for more information, at 816-222-5710.
